The Ruweng Community Organization

The people from Ruweng Counties in the Upper Nile region of southern Sudan were the first to be attacked by the government-sponsored militias from Northern Sudan during the civil war that began in 1983. The war lasted for twenty-two years until a cease-fire treaty was signed in 2005. Over those 22 consecutive years of war, there were an estimated 2 million war-related deaths and nearly 5 million people were displaced.
The war is over, however the suffering continues.

The need is great for those who survived the government attacks, and those who are beginning to return home. They continue to struggle with famine, rampant disease, a ravaged land with no infrastructure, a great shortage of education especially for girls and women, and limited medical facilities for surgery or anything beyond very basic primary care. They desperately need our help. The Ruweng Community Organization is a voice crying out to the world to bring help to the suffering people in Ruweng Counties.

Dear members

Ruweng Community Organization (RCO) office has proposed to conduct a third annual meeting at the end of this year. The chairman of RCO has determined to inform all members including non members to attend the meeting when they have time. The meeting has scheduled to take place in Omaha, Nebraska in the United States. The meeting will begin on December 25-6 2009 at the located venue. Now, the office has worked hard to prepare and arrange everything before the end of the year. Below is the piece of information about those who are interested in biding for positions.

Note: Those who want to run for public official office are required to pay $150 dollars for biding for the positions. All positions are open to candidates who are interested to serve Ruweng Community Organization. If you want to bid for a position you can contact the office of chairman to put down your name on the list. This note is only for registered members and those who have currently held positions to probably bid for the positions once more time. Remember RCO is a legitimate non profit organization and its principle has become a safeguard that  nobody can infringe its constitution.

The main objectives of the meeting include reviewing the activities that have been carried out since the project had been launched by the RCO, the renewing contributions is the second issue, and the changing of the chairman is another issue. Additionally, the office believes that renewing contributions might accelerate and help our organization to flourish. For example, if there is enough money, the container held hostage in Khartoum, Sudan has not slowed down our mission in the Ruweng County. It contains all clinical equipment such as medicines, microscopes and some other important equipment that the doctor can use in the hospital.

After reviewing activities that the office has been performed since the beginning of the project, the committee and members of RCO will address the change of office. The office has been looking forward to obey the constitution. But there was no appropriate time to set up schedule as of today. The committee and members of RCO have found it difficult to fit in schedule during the chairman’s trip to Sudan. They believe that since the chairman has already come back, the meeting must be scheduled. As we both understand, Ruweng Community Organization has been committed to deliver services to Ruweng County. But the failure comes on the side of members who do not possess what they promise to do.

This work is very difficult and it requires each and every individual to contribute a monthly due to leverage the services we have agreed to do for the long run. The office believes that if we work together as we agreed, we would have built clinic last years. The work was not meant for few men and women who commit to serve the community their shares. The office understands, leaving the work in the hands of few would weaken our strength and could let our people perish in the myth of unyielding conditions. It is our fundamental responsibility to do whatever we can to support RCO both financially, socially and politically to bring awareness to people about diseases of 21 century such HIV/ Aids, Swine Flu and many other contagious diseases.

There are men and women out there who have unlimited dreams since day one but they are backed down by their financial constraint. If we legitimately choose to cooperate, it would be easy for all of them to live their dreams. The extreme political and too much talks plus less work do not elevate or develop society. As the saying goes many hands make the light work. The office has committed to ask everybody to attend the meeting no matter your class is. We are genuine to people who face challenges day and night because of lack of cooperation to get the work done.

In conclusion, the meeting has scheduled to take place in December 25-6, 2009 in Omaha, Nebraska in the United States. In fact, the venue has been located and the date has been set; thus the office is working hard to prepare and arrange everything before the end of this year.

Thank you

Signed by: the RCO Chairman.
